About Elisa
Elisa Nebolsine has been working with children, adolescents, and their families for the past fifteen years. A graduate of Smith College School for Social Work, she holds a master's degree in clinical social work with a concentration in children and adolescents. In her practice, Cognitive Therapy for Kids, she provides individual and group therapy to children and adolescents, consulting to professionals, and supervision and teaching to schools, agencies, and mental health centers in the DC area and nationally.
The focus of Elisa's practice is two-fold: 1. Her direct clinical practice where she works with kids, teens, and their parents around issues related to mood with a strong focus on anxiety disorders. 2: Her consulting practice which emphasizes the practice of CBT for kids directly and preventively.
Elisa works with DCPS "DC START" program where she trains clinicians on the use of CBT preventively with at-risk kids. She is currently working with a grant-based program in PA to write and help implement a CBT-based intervention program for vulnerable teens.
In addition, Elisa is a clinical supervisor for the Beck Institute in Philadelphia (founded by Aaron Beck and Judith Beck) where she provides CBT-based supervision to clinicians throughout the country at all levels. She is a certified affiliate with the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, a rigorous credential begun by Dr. Beck to mark a "truly qualified and effective therapist."
Elisa regularly provides presentations and workshops on the use of CBT with children. She has presented nationally at the Anxiety Disorders Association of America's annual conference, NASW VA's annual conference, and numerous other settings.
