A brain-imaging study led by the National Institute on Drug Abuse found that people with ADHD have clear “abnormalities in their dopamine-mediated motivation/reward systems.” The study authors see clinical relevance for this finding in the need to “enhance the appeal and relevance of school work and work tasks to improve performance.”
