A new study followed children aged 14 months until they were seven years old and monitored anxiety and behavioral inhibition. The study, in this month’s JAACAP, found stable maternal reports of behavioral inhibition predicted onset of social anxiety disorder in ages 14-16. This information could provide an invaluable tool to predict and prevent SAD in teens. Families with tendencies towards this disorder may want to learn more.
